WE ARE THE ONTARIO ROD & GUN CLUB
THE SHOOTING SPORTS
AT THEIR BEST
The Ontario Rod & Gun Club is one of the premiere shooting clubs in the Rochester, NY area. The club was started in the winter of 1950 by several local sportsmen who shared a common vision of what a sports club was meant to be.
Ontario Rod & Gun Club is one of the area’s oldest sport shooting clubs, with a rich history of Civilian Marksman Programs, trap, rifle and fishing interests, dating back to the 1950s. It’s a growing club with the addition of competitive sports like 3-Gun Nation and USPSA Practical Shooting matches. But the more notable initiative at ORGC is our recognition and support of local veterans.
“A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
— THE SECOND AMENDMENT TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION DECEMBER 15, 1791
Introducing Ontario Women's League of Shooters, or OWLS, a 'meet up' informal practice session for a select group of women. The goal is to give women a time to practice skills they've learned but have neglected to keep sharp.
Presently, I must limit participation to 10 people due to current restrictions on group size. As I determine interest in this initiative and the restrictions change, I will modify the plan.
To participate you must fall within this guidelines:
ORGC women members only—age 21 and up
Not for people brand new to shooting.
Pistols only at this time.
No extra cost because you are an ORGC member
You must have taken an NRA Pistol Shooting or similar pistol course with proof
You must have taken a range orientation safety course for shooting with groups.
Be able to manage your shooting equipment independently (pistol, ammo, target etc.) So, start thinking about what you learned.
We will have a Chief Range Officers supervising our practice sessions.
Other learning opportunities outside the practice will be available.
This year may be slow going because of the many events happening in our lives and circumstances affecting range time at the club, and practice times may be inconsistent. However, I believe this is an initiative worth pursuing, I believe it will be a great benefit to everyone, especially our often overlooked women shooters!
Please contact me if you are interested, provide your full name and phone, and the day/time you can fit into your schedule. It going to be fun! Frankie LaMarca
