WE ARE THE ONTARIO ROD & GUN CLUB

THE SHOOTING SPORTS

AT THEIR BEST

The Ontario Rod & Gun Club is one of the premiere shooting clubs in the Rochester, NY area. The club was started in the winter of 1950 by several local sportsmen who shared a common vision of what a sports club was meant to be.

Ontario Rod & Gun Club is one of the area’s oldest sport shooting clubs, with a rich history of Civilian Marksman Programs, trap, rifle and fishing interests, dating back to the 1950s. It’s a growing club with the addition of competitive sports like 3-Gun Nation and USPSA Practical Shooting matches. But the more notable initiative at ORGC is our recognition and support of local veterans.

“A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

— THE SECOND AMENDMENT TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION DECEMBER 15, 1791

The Women of Ontario Rod and Gun Club have been around since it’s beginnings in the 1950s. Most of their responsibilities at the club included what was typical for the times, with a few brave souls stepping into into a male dominated sport shooting arena. But in recent years, gun ownership for women has been on the increase. In fact, for the past four years, women have been the fastest growing demographic of firearm ownership.

Women understand women’s rights include the right to bear arms; pistols, shotguns, rifles or ARs. Women understand the meaning of personal protection in a world of victim vs. predator.

Women also understand sport shooting is just plain fun.  It is enjoying time with good people,

personal challenges, unlimited possibilities, athleticism and the drive to learn and develop skills.

Women of ORGC participate in a variety of disciplines: sporting clays, pistol, defensive pistol, smallbore, shotgun, long rifle, silhouettes, and hunting.  They also participate in competitions such as USPSA Pistol and NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program. They are NRA Range Officers, NROI Chief Range Officers, Instructors and Mentors.  They are the Women of ORGC, a growing demographic within our own firearms community!  By Frankie LaMarca
